Smile Thanks Alot

Thanks everyone for your attention, advice ,and time to view the thread and you have helped out loaads. I really appreciate it:

Tuss4:. I tried that but it also gave mesh errors to as shown in Pic(2), but I will try your method too as I approach it again, thanks for the refs I guess I have different refs than the ones used in the movie specially the head piece

JHarford:. I try as close as possible to keep it quads thanks for the heads up, andWhat did u mean like inset??

tolae:. Thanks for the advice, but sathe mentioned a valid point which the technique would nt work across other 3d packages.

Freespace-3DT:. Its Ok, I m bad with names too and thanks I hope my pc holds on while I m trying to finish all of it

Bracer:. Thanks the shaders are very close to Sathe's amazing shaders I used the blending materials technique sathe explained and its working great

Sathe:. Actually your work inspired me to do it so thanks man, I ll use the method you explained the next time I work on it

patient09:. thanks and Looking forward to see yours its a great way to explore how people work differently

the bottom and the most right mesh errors are probably because of the 2 tri's you have in your mesh

try and put back the way you had it before, cuz in the screenshot i posted, I used a different method than the one in my first post

in the polygon sub-object level, there is a tool that you can use called "inset", it might even be better than using extrude.

here is what i mean, see what I circled in green? Reproduce that in the corner in question, without distorting the polygons scribbled in red. It's tricky but it's possible, that's how I managed to do it on my model.

As for the head, just do it like you want dude, after all it's your model. Personally I think the concept art head looks way better.

edit: just do what's in pic 2

the cheapest way actually in photoshop I draw black areas on a seperate layer then add color overlay and a glow effect to it in screen mode with some noise and to make things softer I load the selection then invert it, feather it then clear once or twice to get smooth edges

The brushed steel/aluminum look is definitely the way to go with it. The off-color gold just doesn't work. I could be alone in that though, just saying.

Very good dude, making fast progress

Dont be afraid to just take screengrabs from the viewport though, If you keep rendering progress shots you will end up hating the render similar to me by the time its done.
