Hi guys,

I do this model as a part of my final assignment, in a 3D university course.
The modeling is mostly done, for the moment i dont know anything more to model, maybe some refinements but thats ok.

So of the texturing and rendering i go. Hope it looks ok

Pretty bad quality loss i know, ik try to get some links up.

Always wanted to make one but i've been stopped by this question : "how will I place correclty the bracelet's pieces ???"

How have you done that ? is it rigged or just placed for a static render ?

They going to be rigged, once i find out how to do it correctly, For now they are grouped and then i used a bend modifier, and some tweeking on the lower ones to fit them correctly

First Rendering test, Rolex has some hard materials to get right, im going to try out the Everrose gold (http://media.photobucket.com/image/r.../DSC00011.jpg( later but thats one seems crazy It pretty much as gold in reflectivity and such but it got a pinkish tint to it, can be very hard to nail perfectly =/

Ah well here it comes, first test with an Alu material (Vray and 3dsmax)

Thanks kage, yeah i have put some hours down to do this model, just the damn lock mechanism took 2+ hours modeling + the time to find reference to do.

Todays, texturing and shading adventures has gone pretty good. Atleast i have something Ok to show

The text on the clock face are actually modelled and is intersection the face geometry, aswell as the "stripes" that goes around the face.

The inner ring, has a rolex bump map on it, And the outer is a vrayblendmtrl. as you see there are some artifacts on it, but im pretty happy with the way it have come so far.

So please post comments, Tips, tricks etc. everything that can help in the shading process

Have been playing around some more with the shaders today, and i think im pretty happy with them now, i have some tweeking to do on the red shader for the Pointers, but other than that im pretty happy.

Modeling looks good, but it really needs a contrasting background. The model is getting lost in your presentation.

+1 the image is way to bright, and having a white background for a reflecting model isnīt the best way to go. throw a little scene together or at least use abackground that delivers a good contrast

Im installing max 2012, at the moment, so hopefully, my computer will be a bit faster so i dont get tired of working on this, Because my 2010 version, keeps laggin and meshes dissapear all the time. It is pretty frustrating.

A render with a better background, Looks better i think. i Have also ditched vray because i have moved to Max 2012 and i dont have a copy of vray to that. will have to fix vray 2,0.

So from now on its time to relearn mental ray

It looks okay, but to be honest, I'm not a fan of the HDRI use.
I think it would look tonnes better if you made reflection maps from light sources/planes, to create fall off's etc
